Quit Smoking using hypnoisis
Frequently asked questions

1. Can anyone be hypnotised?
Most people can be hypnotised: some more easily than others. On the other hand, you cannot be hypnotised against your will.

2. How will I be hypnotised?
Simply by speaking to you quietly and calmly, Adrian will help you enter such a deep and pleasant state of relaxation that your subconscious mind will be ready to accept suggestions for beneficial change in your life.

3. Will I be asleep?
No, but some people describe hypnosis as being similar to that very pleasant halfway stage we sometimes enter just before falling asleep: a state of utter and complete peace and relaxation

4. Will I be aware of what’s happening?
Yes: you will be totally aware of everything that’s going on.

5. Can I be made to do or say anything I don’t want to?
No: you are totally in control of yourself while in hypnosis.

6. Can I get ‘stuck’ in hypnosis?
No: there isn’t a single example of this in the history of hypnotherapy practice..

7. Is hypnosis dangerous in any way?
Anyone suffering from a psychotic condition, or epilepsy, and any recent heart-attack sufferers, should consult their GP before seeking hypnotherapy treatment. Children and pregnant women should also seek specialist advice.

8. Will I give away secrets while in hypnosis?
No: you will retain complete control over your thought processes.

9. Is hypnosis good for improving sporting performance?
Yes: It’s a very effective form of therapy for improvement in most areas of life including:

  • Sport
  • Career
  • Exams and auditions
  • Memory and concentration
  • Driving
  • Public speaking and presentation skills
  • Stage performance
  • Sexual performance

10. How many sessions will I need?
It varies with each person. Quitting smoking takes just one session, while more complex conditions requiring hypno-analysis may need eight to twelve sessions, sometimes more. Most conditions require from six to ten sessions.

11. How long does each session take?
Sessions usually last around one hour; the quit smoking session lasts from 90-120 minutes.

12. Is hypnotherapy always successful?
No medical treatment has guaranteed outcomes. With stress-related conditions hypnotherapy often has a higher success rate than other treatments and without the use of drugs.

13. Does the treatment last?
Changes made to your fundamental belief system usually last forever.

14. My own condition does not appear on your list: what should I do?
Adrian treats a very wide range of conditions, and there isn’t enough space to list them all here. There are very few that haven’t been encountered before, or for which tried and tested therapies do not exist. He will discuss your problem with you at length at your free initial consultation and agree a strategy best suited to your needs.

15. What protection do I have?
Adrian is affiliated to most recognised clinical bodies in the field of hypnotherapy and these are listed elsewhere on the website. He is bound by their strict codes of ethics, examples of which you can read at www.aphp.co.uk/ethics.php. He has full professional indemnity insurance.

Your FREE consultation is entirely without obligation. Adrian will spend up to two hours with you discussing your problem, so that you can both be sure the therapy you choose is absolutely right for you. Some clients discover that just talking about their problem is all the help they needed.
